A police officer was stabbed Tuesday by an emotionally disturbed person in East Harlem, a law enforcement official said.

The officer was stabbed in the head and neck and was slashed on the arm. He has been taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

The incident happened at 3rd Ave. and E. 107th Street. Police officials have not yet released the details of what happened, but police say they have the suspect in custody.
