Members of the Chabad Beis Aryeh Shul in Lod are seeking to understand where the Sefer Torah went. Gabbaim opened the Aaron Kodesh to find the Torah missing. They seem to be confused, uncertain if it was stolen or taken by a member of the kehila.
Gabbai Chaim Galinsky is quoted by Chadrei Chareidim as saying “A person donated the sefer on condition it is used on yomim tovim but it appears the sefer has disappeared. There are no signs of a break-in but we are still suspicious, fearing someone took advantage of the shul when it was open but empty and made off with the sefer.”
Galinsky is not ruling out that someone may have borrowed it without permission, admitting he does not know what happened exactly.
Police have been informed and information describing the sefer is being circulated among dealers.

Video cameras in the airport might shed some light on who might know where it is
Its unfortunate that lately we read too often a about seforim being stolen, burned or simply “missing”. In most cases, its simply negligence or saving a few pennies by not installing security systems or taking common sense precautions. A sefer torah has some kedushah and is not a shtender os some other object to be left without taking proper precautions.
lod is not the airport, it is a city near the airport
