Arrests at Machpelah House in Hebron on Shabbos

After a 9-year-old boy entered the Machpelah House in Hebron on Shabbos, border police slammed him against the wall and began to “rough him up” eyewitnesses report. Two area residents tried to intervene on behalf of the boy and they were arrested along with him; all compelled to be driven to a Gush Etzion police station on Shabbos.

Hebron resident Baruch Marzel decried the event, lashing out at police for ordering the chilul Shabbos, compelling the three to enter a vehicle and transporting them to a police facility on Shabbos when it was obvious they did not do anything wrong.

The daily HaMevaser adds that Marzel also decried the government which gives Defense Minister Ehud Barak a free hand to act against the Jewish community of Hebron while remaining complacently silent.

MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Dr. Michael Ben-Ari has called on the National Child Welfare Council to investigate the inappropriate actions of the border policemen against a 9-year-old boy.

  1. How does one account for a “right-wing” (LOL) government, with a “left-wing” Defense(LOL)Minister?

    Something stinks in this picture…
