VIDEO & PHOTOS: False Alarm At Bais Yaakov Of Boro Park Causes Panic & Evacuation Of Massive Crowd

A thousand women watching a Chol Hamoed play (or slide show) were rushed out of of the Bais Yaakov of Boro Park building, after being informed of a fire in the building. To make matters worse, BoroParkScoop.com reports that someone shut the lights, fearing that it was an electrical fire, causing much panic as the people tried getting out of the building – located at 14th Avenue and 45th Street. Meanwhile, there was in fact no fire at all!

With wildfires burning in Staten Island and Long Island, and strong winds blowing, there is a strong smell of smoke everywhere in New York City – mostly in Southern Brooklyn. The smell wafted into the building causing the panic.

One person was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained while running out of the building.

  1. I was there tonight, at the same time, the same thing happened next block in Sara Schenirer. The panic & stampede were fightening. An older woman fell to the floor from the rush & pushing. The ticket table still at the door was a fire hazard, with the right door locked both inside & sidewalk entrances.
These films pull a very large crowd, with NO RESPONSIBLE safety supervision at all which should be rpovided by the film director &/or hall that is rented. It’s about time there are rules that are strictly enforced. 5 minutes after returning inside to continue the film, there was a row of seats & girls FULLY BLOCKING THE ENTRANCE/EXIT !! NOT ONE PERSON SAID A WORD TO THEM to move & clear the aisle.
