Chief Rabbi Yona Yechiel Metzger Shlita spoke with Mrs. Esther Pollard on motzei Shabbos. The rav was briefed on Jonathan Pollard’s critical condition as he was taken to a hospital last week due to a sharp decline in his ailing health.
Despite the fact that Pollard was complaining of severe pain for a number of days, officials in the US prison were unwilling to permit him to seek medical care for a number of days until his condition become too severe, compelling them to act.
It appears that Mr. Pollard’s condition is critical at this time and the Jewish community around the world is urged to be mispallel on his behalf, a man who has spend most of his life in prison simply for acting to assist Israel and his people.
The tzibur is requested to continue being mispallel for Yehonosson ben Malka

Born on the ninth of Av. Cruelly opressed, and suffering for acts he did on behalf of his people. Pray for Yehonatan Ben Malka.
Unlikely that any president running for re-election, regadless of political party, would pardon someone convicted of selling top secret information in an election year regardless of the merits of the individual case. Here, it would create a “Willy Horton” moment for the Republicans, even though some have supported some form of pardon or clemency.
