Anti Racism Protest Follows Violence at Jerusalem’s Malcha Mall

Over 100 people were on hand Wednesday night, the eve of 6 Nissan 5772, taking part in an anti racism protest outside Jerusalem’s Malcha Mall. The protest was a response to a recent incident in which Betar Jerusalem soccer fans attacked Arab sanitation personnel in the mall after a game at Teddy Stadium, across the street from the mall. The anti-Arab rage followed a game on Monday night. Hundreds of the fans entered the mall’s food court and indiscriminately began assaulting Arab workers while shouting “death to the Arabs”.

On hand among the protestors was Meretz Deputy Mayor Pepe Alalu, who explained to the media that the Jewish people have been victim to pogroms and we should therefore have an increased sensitivity to such unacceptable behavior.

Jerusalem police commanders report they are investigating the Monday night incident and those persons who assaulted innocent people will be apprehended and brought to justice.

  1. The song’s refrain “…we are so different from them…” needs to be remembered. If this story is true, some of us are behaving shamefully, and embarrassingly, like too many of “them.”
