The daily Yisrael HaYom newspaper on Sunday, 24 Adar 5772 quotes a “senior IDF officer” anonymously regarding concerns pertaining to Hizbullah. The report states that if Hizbullah acquires advanced anti-aircraft weaponry and/or chemical weapons, Israel will have to rethink its strategy vis-à-vis the terrorist army.
Israeli officials are very concerned the senior officer is quoted as explaining, adding that as the situation in Syria continues to deteriorate, intelligence officials feel there will be an increase in weapons smuggling into southern Lebanon, to the Hizbullah forces.
Concerns over a Hizbullah strike against an Israeli target abroad are equally as worrisome according to the official, who explains a major attack against an Israeli target elsewhere may also drag the IDF into a renewed conflict with Hizbullah.
