EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Waterbury PD Announce Arrests In Bat Assault On Yeshiva Student

The Waterbury Police Chief had some good news for local residents, Wednesday evening, when he announced that suspects in a brutal assault on a Yeshiva student had been arrested.

The announcement, which was made at a local community board meeting, came as good news to the entire Waterbury community. The Chief said that 3 suspects have already been taken into custody, and the remaining two will be in police custody tonight. Following his announcement, the room – full of many Yeshiva students – broke out into applause, and a standing ovation.

The suspects were being charged in the assault of a 21-year-old Yeshiva student, who was beaten with a baseball bat, and robbed of his cellphone on Sunday night – in a story first reported by YWN.

The incident happened at the intersection of Cooke Street and Pine Street, when the five suspects approached the Yeshiva Bochur and demanded his cell phone. They beat his head with a baseball bat, took his phone and fled on foot.

He was taken to St Marys Hospital, where he was treated for head trauma, and released a day later. The incident was nothing short of a miracle, as the man could have suffered a serious brain injury – or worse Chas Veshalom. He was reportedly back in Yeshiva today, and is now back in Brooklyn resting at his home.

The Yeshiva community tells YWN that they are very thankful for the great detective work, which led to the arrests, and removal of 5 thugs from the streets of Waterbury.

The exact charges will be added when they become available to YWN.
