New York State is offering over $3.5 million in rebates to customers who buy energy-efficient washers and refrigerators beginning March 19.
New York residents could get rebates of $350 for high-efficiency refrigerators and $250 for high-efficiency clothes washers that meet “super-efficiency levels.”
The program is being administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and is being funded by the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
NYSERDA president Francis J. Murray, Jr., said last year’s appliance rebate program was so successful the available funding was allocated within days.
Rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for completed applications, which will be available on March 19 at www.NYSApplianceRebates.com or by calling 1-877- NY-SMART (877-697-6278).
The site will list high-efficiency refrigerators and clothes washers that are eligible for rebates.
Purchases made before March 19 are not eligible for rebates. The program will continue until funding runs out.
