The High Court has issued a ruling compelling police to inform a suspect that s/he has the right to refuse a body search. In addition, police are also compelled to tell the person that refusal of the search will not negatively affect his/her rights at a future time.

Civil rights organizations praised the ruling, which they feel is a major step towards recognizing and respecting the rights of citizens.
