Hamas security officials in Gaza report apprehending a very senior official working as a spy in Gaza. The report states the suspect has been working for Israel since 1998 but the height of his activity was during the years of the “second intifada”, some three years ago during the period of Operation Cast Lead.
The agent’s initials are said to be Yud Vav, and Hamas reports state that he admitted to his espionage activities during interrogation. He often would travel to the site of an IAF targeted strike to confirm the outcome of the strike, reporting to Israel if the intended target was eliminated.
The Hamas report adds the accused Israeli agent has admitted to many crimes against the Hamas regime in Gaza.
