Sunday Morning News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


The gishmei bracha over the weekend has contributed an additional 20 centimeters to the level of the Kinneret. Water officials report the level is now -212.17. An additional 37cm is required to reach the upper red line.

** Rocket attacks continued over Shabbos and motzei Shabbos. Baruch Hashem there were no reports of injuries or damage.

** IDF Central Commander Major-General Avi Mizrachi will complete his current assignment on Sunday, 11 March. He may become the deputy chief of staff of the next IDF attaché to Washington DC. A decision to be announced in the coming days.

** Hamas has closed it military operation in Syria, moving temporarily to Gaza, negotiating with Turkey to open in that country.

** London-based Al-Shark Al-Awsat Arabic newspaper quotes Turkish sources as saying Turkish radar has detected Israeli drones over Syria.

** After being closed for days, the Tzeilim Bridge in the south reopened on Sunday morning.

** The ministerial committee on Sunday approved the bill of MK Levine seeking to increase the minimum marriage age in Israel to 18.

  1. The tzeilim bridge reopened? I’ve never heard of it. But I can guess there was a Purim spirit there at the sign that must have read something like “Do not CROSS the TZEILIM bridge”… 🙂
