In a very impressive ceremony in Beitar, 20 volunteers of “Hatzolah Israel” received official certificates as volunteers of the fire department. They successfully completed a special course given by Mr. Shai Turgeman. They were trained how to deal both with fires and evacuation of trapped people.
In addition to the graduates, also present was the mayor of Beitar, Reb Meir Rubenstein, his assistants Reb Shlomo Sharabi and Reb Akiva Ovitz, the head of “Hatzolah Israel” Reb Duki Greenwald, the general manager Reb Chaim Fridman, the officers of the Israeli fire department and the officer of the Beitar station Mr. Shai Turgeman.
It was quite ironic that their first experience dealing with fires was last Friday, where a resident of Beitar, Reb Yisrael Holtzberg ז”ל, lost his life in a tragic traffic accident. This new unit was the first to arrive and helped extinguish the fires that were caused by the accident.
Besides the official certificates, the volunteers received special vests and helmets that were donated by “Hatzolah Israel”.

Halevai we could start such a thing here in the U.S. to help Hatzolah when they are the first to arrive at a M.V.A. or other emergency that involves fire.
Smells like cooperation between residents and the Israeli government. Thank goodness!!!
