Twenty years after disappearing and leaving his children and his wife as an “agunah”, a French Jewish man has been located in an Israeli jail and has agreed to give his wife a Get.
The husband now 45, is in an Israeli jail. He served six jail sentences, and is now serving his seventh after being convicted of property and violence offenses.
The man’s son is studying in a yeshiva in Israel, and after the family received information that the missing husband was in jail, the yeshiva’s rabbis turned to the Israel Prison Service’s chief rabbi, Yehuda Yekutiel Vizner, and asked for his help in locating the father.
Rabbi Vizner managed to locate the prisoner and persuade him to give his wife a divorce.
After signing the divorce papers, the prisoner was visited by his son. The two, who had not seen each other for 20 years, shed many tears during the visit.

#1-What “WOW”? Was the father innocently put in jail and unable to contact his family for the last twenty years or is he just a “crooked” guy making trouble and ending up in jail causing 20 years of pain for his family? If the latter is the case, whay was the father “sheding tears”-he did to himself!!

A parent is always a parent. Based on your screen name, one would expect you to understand that.
the way the story sounds, he did not intentionaly not give his wife a get, he just didnt know/care about (and probably neither did the “wife”)
they seemed to know how to find him for twenty years, they just didnt care.
now they had a chance to straighten out the situation (the son being a baal teshuvah probably helped), everyone was agreeable to the solution.
to ayiddele: she wasnt an agunah in the sense the husband wanted something improper, she was a “classic” agunah in the sense of the husband cannot be found (and i tend to doubt he couldnt be found).
