But a Mitzvah is a positive commandment which is an obligation and a Chiyuv by defination is also an obligation so I am not sure what are you or the Rabbi are trying to say. Either it’s a Mitzvah and your obligated or it’s a Mitzvah that is dependent on time in which case there is no obligation for females to perform it, but is marriage a positive commandment dependent on time?
