The Central Bureau of Statistics released figures citing the monthly expenditures of homes Israel in 2010. The “average” family spends 13,496 NIS monthly on various services.
6,168 families which are representative of 2,200,000 families nationwide were polled. It was learned that on an average, homes with children spend 1.4 times more than homes without children. Families with children will spend 16.8% of their monthly expenditures on food, as compared to 15.8% in homes without children.
The average monthly expenditure on rent is 3,374 NIS, as compared to an average home without children, 3,212 NIS.
The report adds that spending on snack foods, cereals and dairy products increase as the number of children increases. The average family with three or more children spends 415 NIS on cellular telephone communications, which is lower than an average family with two children, 485 NIS.
The main expenses are rent, food, transportation and communications, and clothing.
No mention is made of school tuition and the other costs that are found in frum homes.
