Speaking during a motzei Shabbos L’Chaim Tisch that followed a hachnasas sefer Torah, the Satmar Rebbe of Kiryas Yoel addressed a number of ‘inyanei d’yoma’. The rebbe arrived last week for a family simcha.
The rebbe spoke about kiyum mitzvos, Am Yisrael’s responsibility to adhere to the Torah, and the severity of transgressions “in the King’s palace”, the lack of shmiras Shabbos in Eretz Yisrael by the majority of the residents.
“Most of the Jews in Israel are not observing Torah and mitzvos and the Land of Israel records their offenses”.
He added this is particularly true among the “big Zionists that were present for the establishment of the state, leading to the spilling of blood resulting from their unwillingness to compromise on peace”.
The rebbe spoke out against politicians who target mosdos Torah, decrying the recent effort to bring non frum MKs to visit yeshivos and embracing them.
The rebbe then shifted to chareidi weeklies, those with “hashkafa of the Zionists, a hashkafa of kefira – bringing poison into chareidi hearts”.
“Some of the papers have shtreimels and white beards, some Litvish or Sephardim, with a common denominator, the destruction of the pure hashkafa”.
The rebbe called on his chassidim to refrain from bringing such publications into their homes.

The article says the rebbe spoke out against politicians “who target mosdos Torah” and was critical of recent efforts (presumably by those same Mosdos) to bring non-frum MKs to visit yeshivos who subsequently end up embracing those yeshivos and mosdos. Why wouldn’t the rebbe embrace such a strategy if the end result is that as a result of such visits, the politicians end up being supportive of these mosdos.
Ohavei Hashem Sinu Ra
I Hate Extremism, especially the type that leads to hate.
But I love the G-d of Israel and his Torah.

Rav Elchonan Wasserman zt”l was against charadi newspapers, but his son, Reb Simcha zt”l read HaModia. Times change and the needs of the people change. Perhaps the Satmar community is different than the modern charedi avrach.
I personally find that the charadi newspapers in Israel are watered down news, with some rewriting the news as a “charadi should understand it”.

I am trying to understand your comment and I don’t. I will, however, say that what the Satmar Rebbe forgot, you will NEVER know. Don’t be an oyber chochom because HKBH agrees more with Satmar hashkofos in relation to EY. My proof is simple p’sukim in Chumash.
(No, I am NOT Satmar. In fact I don’t even dress chasidish.
With all due respect, many many Jews in EY are observing Torah.. just not to the level the Rebbe would like. Even those that seemingly don’t observe shabbos, do observe to some extent. It seems that Satmar only focuses on what seemingly goes wrong in the state to go along with their religion of anti-zionism.There is so much Torah going on in EY.. so many people coming back to a true Torah life and the like.
The creation of the State did not lead to any more spilling of blood than the holocaust. The state has many problems but the spilling of the blood is not as bad as generations before. In every generation the non Jews come up against us and even if the State of Israel had never existed.. blood would have been spilled.
I most certainly agree with what he says about the modern ‘chareidi’ media. However, I do use it all (though for ‘real’ news I only rely on serious media such as Haaretz) – keeping in mind that many things you read in each and every media outlet have some spin on them. Each news item has two sides to it (except for those about the weather!).
One needs to use his own brains to be able to read an article and determine how much of it is likely true and how much should be taken with a grain of salt. Unfortunately not all chareidim are capable of this… Especially Israeli chareidim. For whatever reason, if something is written in ‘their’ paper – be it HaModia or the Yated – it is TRUE.
Exactly which chareidi weeklies is he referring to when he says “those with “hashkafa of the Zionists, a hashkafa of kefira”?? The Hamodia? The Yated? The mishpocho? If the hashkofos of these weeklies were full of “zionist kefira” they would have been rejected by the yeshivish community the same way the jewish press has been utterly rejected. If its because these weeklies don’t adhere to the “satmar” hashkofos, well that’s a totally different story. Obviously we know that satmar has a different outlook on Israel than most other chareidim. The fact that they don’t go to the kosel doesn’t make us zionist kofrim when we go to pour out our hearts to H-shem. His words as reported need clarification.
“Most of the Jews in Israel are not observing Torah and mitzvos ( and the Land of Israel records their offenses”).
Once again, News according to SATMAR;
The majority of Jews in Israel, which equals more than 50% observe Shabbos, Kashrus, Chagim, Fast on Yom Kippur, are Tzedakah givers, fulfill Kibud Av vAm, Daven, etc. than even 10% OF THE JEWS OF AMERICA.
Ironic, since I find that satmar is more and more distancing themselves from the hashkafa of the majority of the hareidi world…
In any case let him speak to his crowd, but anyone should refrain bashing other derachim… or claim that “ours” is the only acceptable and pure derech.
I assume Der Yid is full of love for all their fellow Jews with no hint of hatred to different sects of Klal Yisrael. I hate this matra of “its either my way or the highway”. That extremism does nothing to bring fellow Jews closer to yiddishkeit.
How could the Satmar Rebbe speak out now so openly against his own Father – In – Law the Vishnizer Rebbe Shlita – the head of the “Zionist” Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Israel – and calling him (and other Gedolim) such derogatory names??!!
Try searching the legal database at scholar dot google dot com for this rebbe’s name.
Do “gadolim” litigate against other Jews in non-Jewish courts?
Who is this so-called Rebbe to attack the valiant Jews who with great mesiras nefesh have settled Eretz Yisrael?
“Our master Maharam Chagiz, discusses the great punishment that awaits those who slander the inhabitants of Eretz Yisrael: … Anyone who spreads an evil report about the Land will be stricken and will receive the punishment of the spies. This is the meaning of ‘And all who provoke Me shall not see it’ which refers to the future.”

@Nahapochu Are you serious? You bring a verse which states the opposite of what you are trying to say! That verse tells us that one who loves Hashem should hate wrong doing, ANY AND ALL wrong. They shouldn’t be accepting of any wrong, but rather HATE it.
The Satmar Rebbe, who is so respected for his “ahavat Yisrael” regularly attacks Zionist Jews as “wicked” and “heretics.” He will be held to account for his duplicity.
