While the Histadrut national labor federation reached agreement ending its strike, Israel Railways has decided to walk off the job, apparently less than pleased with conditions for manpower workers, the issue at the heart of the strike.
The National Labor Court issued a back to work order which was ignored by strike leaders. The court warned the leaders of the strike would be held in contempt. On Tuesday morning at 11:00am, the labor court convened in special session to address the defiance by railway officials.
While railway officials announced they will not defy the court order, no one rushed to resume service.
