Joseph- why do you think those courses are unnecessary and unrelated to trades?
Trades do not exist in a vacuum. Professionals help people with real world problems, and therefore need to know about that world. If you own a widget factory and need an accountant, lawyer, etc., and find a frum accountant who says, I’d love to be your accountant and I’m a great accountant, but I don’t know what a widget is, are you going to hire him?
