The New York City Police Department increased security at Jewish institutions throughout the city on Saturday as tensions between Israel and Iran heated up. Police officers stood guard outside the Israeli consulate near the United Nations.
Authorities said the extra security was just a precaution and not a response to a specific threat.
The United States recently renewed concerns over an Iranian nuclear program.
White House officials said Israel, a close U.S. ally, is planning to attack Iran.
Iran’s leader said his country would retaliate if such an attack is carried out.

Dov Hikind: Are you listening???
It’s our responsibility to secure our own yeshivas. Stop waiting for nypd or others to take care of our own security needs. Yeshiva security was tested 4three years ago. More than 250 institutions were tested by undercover officers to see how easy it was to get in and only three out of 250 yeshivas passed the test. This is beyond unacceptable and embarrassing. Does the yeshiva system care about our kids?
