UPDATE 11:20AM EST: Manhattan: Train Derailment


11:20AM EST: FDNY is reporting a train derailment in Manhattan on the “M” line. The Battalion Chief is reporting that the train derailed 25 feet South of the Station between Broadway/ Nassau & Chambers. He also is reporting that the conductor is reportedly pinned in the train. No civilian injuries. All power has been shut off to the line. Expect transit delays in the area.

UPDATE 11:33AM EST: Sources tell Yeshivaworld that the train did not derail – but slammed into the bumper-guard. (This is the end on the line, where the train stops and turns around). The first five cars are damaged on the train – with extensive damage reported to the front car. The conductor and motorman are reported to have been extricated and are refusing medical treatment at this time. NYPD has a Level 1 response, and FDNY is using all hands.

Expect heavy transit delays.
