On both holidays, different religious institutions offer special services or prayers during a service. One holiday is to give thanks for the bounty and freedoms that we enjoy and the other thanks those who gave their lives to preserve those freedoms. Both of these occasions apply equally to all citizens – they are totally secular holidays.
