Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is expected to suspend her run for the White House Wednesday, with a source telling National Journal the congresswoman does not see a “viable” way forward for her campaign.
Bachmann has scheduled a press conference in Des Moines, Iowa, for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
She finished in sixth place in the Iowa caucuses but had said she would stay in the race, despite finishing with just five percent of the vote.
However, a well-placed source cited by the Journal, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that she now realized “there was no viable way forward.”
By suspending her campaign, Bachmann is effectively dropping out of the 2012 race.
