Kissing someone’s hand is a sign of respect. I remember seeing my father always kiss his father’s hand when we would leave his house. My father never had us do it, but it made an impression on me seeing my father’s respect for his father. He and my mother also used to talk to him in 3rd person i.e. Does the Tatte want a drink of water?
