A man was placed under arrest Tuesday after federal officials say a knife was discovered in his carry-on bag at John F. Kennedy Airport.
The Transportation Safety Administration says one of its officers found a spring-loaded knife in the man’s bag Tuesday afternoon.
Port Authority police confiscated the knife and arrested the man, who was planning to board a flight to Russia.
The TSA reminds travelers that weapons — including knives — are prohibited from being brought onto an aircraft in carry-on luggage.

Why didn’t they just confiscate the knife without further incident? Why did they need to arrest him? There must be more to the story
A spring loaded knife, otherwise known as a switch blade, is a common weapon. The TSA was taking normal measures here.
