Report: Nobel Prize Laureate Verbally Assaults Chareidi Girl

It appears the anti-chareidi media frenzy in Israel is having an impact, even on notables such as Nobel Prize laureate Alex Libak, who stands accused of taking his anti-chareidi philosophy to the next step. The prestigious Libak allegedly targeted Lily, a 4-year-old chareidi girl from Beit Shemesh.

Lily was heading home on Monday with her mother, Meirav, when Libak, a photographer, verbally assaulted the mother and daughter, with the latter reporting “I was attacked by a Haaretz photographer”, who turned out to be Libak. Meirav is quoted by Chadrei Chareidim as saying Libak spat at them as well. She explains the area was empty when the event occurred, hence there are no witnesses. She continues detailing the attack, explaining “He began shouting at Lily and I asked him why he is shouting at a little girl, turning his body in a threatening fashion. Lily clung to me in fear”.

Meirav continues explaining they had an exchange of words, during which Libak spat at them, stating after she arrived home and realized what had taken place, she broke down and began crying. A formal complaint was filed against Libak with Beit Shemesh police on Tuesday night, December 27th.

Libak admits shouting at them but denies spitting at or towards anyone. He accuses Meirav of fabricating some of her story to tarnish his good name.

Libak adds he is not at all surprised that a police complaint was filed in light of the harsh situation in Beit Shemesh of late, explaining that instead of seeking to intervene towards extinguishing the flames of conflict, there are people actively working to inflame the disharmony and air of confrontation, concluding it is sad just what is taking place in Israel today.

Libak told Chadrei Chareidim that he has the utmost respect for the chareidi community and “we don’t have to poke our noses into the heart of the chareidi community. We cannot impose our ways on the chareidim, and if the state wishes to be a democracy, then we must protect the rights of others, not just our own rights”.

  1. I’m shocked to the core! So much anti charedi activity going on in EY, for decades the media is trying with all their might to get a good scoop and tarnish the charedim, when anything is being reported negative on charedim many bloggers and commentators would jump up with judgement and finger pointing, even noted writers would release op ed’s and article with huge portions of mussar to the charedim WITHOUT CHECKING THE FACTS FIRST!!
Where are all big mouths now?? is it more OK to spit on a little 4 year old girl than it is on an 8 year old? is it more ok when a secular woman in Bnei brak was spitting several times on a charedi yungerman? all those stories are being ignored by the mainstream media, and don’t get the honor of frum hating commentators to condemn it or raise a voice on it, heart breaking!

  2. As usual, no different who it is a man or a women. In a conflict between a secular and a chariedi. The rule is that the secular is always right and chariedi is always at wrong. Now go and tell all religious Jews to support Israel because it is a Jewish state and you got to live there, so they can blame for everything they want.

  3. This one has potential for kiruv. Someone should contact the oilem in Beit Shemesh, and see if they could arrange a chavrusa. He has what it takes. It’s the same techunas hanefesh, whether chareidi spitting on chiloni or vice versa. Only a little different clothing, but the same in side.

  4. Definitely NOT a “nobel” act. This guy should be taken and strung from his whatever from a lightpost.

This story won’t make it big in the DIB press because it was lo dati vs frum people but there would be g’henim to pay if it were the other way.

  5. Wait, is secular news carrying this story? Are we going to have 5000 haredim pitom show up at the haarets offices to protest the mistreatment of women?

  6. Seriously, the list of people who have won a Nobel Prize is not hard to find. This guy isn’t one of them. Why hasn’t this article been corrected?
