The correct (althoght not literal) translation for ” vi glicklech is er vos Der Shabbos heet er” is, how fortunate is he who keeps the Shabbos, not whom the Shabbos protects.
That is correct. As Mammele pointed out in another thread,
my Yiddish grammar could use some work. As Ujew points out,
though, there is nothing non-literal about the correct translation
(“literal” does not mean that the meaning is given in the same order).
