Music has a serious effect on ones neshama (for good or bad) and contains in it part of the neshama/soul/intentions of the composer, (and this stuff doesn’t just disappear when you put Hebrew words to it).
As a side point i once heard a story about a lady who underwent brain surgery and when they hit on a certain point she began to sing this complicated opera that they found out after (when they questioned her) she had only listened to it once in her life when she was a young girl and had hated it but it was still there somewhere deep in her memory.
I don’t think anyone will dispute the effect music has on a person.
