Convention Launches Avos Ubanim US Winter Zman

yw story logo1.jpgMotzai Shabbos Parshas Chaye Sarah will mark the start of the Winter Zman for Avos U’banim around the world, apart from Eretz Yisroel where the Zman already began on Motzai Yom Kippur. In the United States, the Zman will be launched at a gathering of 260 Branch Leaders from across the country – today – in New York. Guest speakers at the 2nd Annual U.S. Branch Leaders’ Convention will include the Kosover Rebbe, Rav Shraga Hager Shlita and Rav Matisyahu Salomon Shlita.

To launch the 10th successful year of what is now the world’s largest Yeshiva – Avos U’banim has 90,000 talmidim learning with their fathers at 1,350 centers around the world – its mora d’asra Rabbi Aryeh Finkel shlita will send Divrei Psicha V’Bracha via video.

Avos U’banim International’s Director, Rabbi Dovid Hershkovitz, explains its uniqueness: “Over the years, Avos U’banim has inspired hundreds of thousands of fathers and sons in Jewish communities worldwide. Committing themselves to an hour of quality, one-on-one Torah learning has changed tens of thousands of families for the better. Avos U’banim sessions have also added millions of hours of Torah learning during time that would otherwise have gone to waste.”

Avos U’banim was launched in America at the 2005 Torah U’Mesorah Convention and the idea has quickly spread to most of the major Jewish communities. A full list of U.S. branches is shown below. From Lakewood, Monsey and Flatbush, to the newer Torah communities of Atlanta, Memphis and Minneapolis, the idea of fathers and sons spending ‘quality time’ learning together each Motzai Shabbos has spread across the U.S. and the world.
