Councilman James F. Gennaro is offering a $1,000 reward for information regarding a hate crime committed late Oct. 17 or early Oct. 18 at the Young Israel of Hillcrest synagogue in Hillcrest, Queens – as reported HERE on YW. It is the hope of all that this information will lead to police apprehension of the perpetrator, so that this sad episode can quickly come to its conclusion and justice can be served.
On Thursday, Oct. 18, the hate symbols of an unknown vandal were found at the Young Israel of Hillcrest synagogue. The perpetrator defaced synagogue property, including an ambulance and message board, with swastikas, which were found early Thursday morning. (Click HERE for photos.)
“This is a disgusting act of hate,” Councilman Gennaro, an honorary member of the Jewish Community Relations Council, said. “Marring a sacred place with ugly symbols of intolerance, bigotry and prejudice is the despicable behavior of a contemptible criminal. I am appalled that in this day and age such criminals still exist, which is why I am offering a reward to those who will not stand by quietly or withhold information that will lead to the apprehension of a hate monger.”
