Ottawa Professor Investigated in Bombing Of Paris Shul

A professor at the University of Ottawa is being investigated by French police for his alleged involvement in the bombing of a Paris synagogue nearly three decades ago, Le Figaro reports.

A story in the French daily today says the 53-year-old, who holds Canadian and Lebanese citizenship, resembles a sketch released by French authorities of somebody involved in the bombing outside the Copernic Road synagogue on Oct. 3, 1980. The explosives planted in the saddlebags of a parked motorcycle killed three Frenchmen, an Israeli woman and injured scores of others.

The man’s identity and location have not been confirmed by police.

NOTE: Yeshivaworld reported two weeks ago (HERE), that police were trailing a suspect in the bombing case. It’s unknown if this is the same suspect, or an additional person.

  1. I have a long association with the University of Ottawa, having studied there (mid-70’s) and taught there (late 70’s to mid-80’s). The student body and the faculty are so left-wing, “anti-colonialist” and anti-semitic that my hunch is that this guy will become an instant hero on campus!
