You might be thinking of Oberlander which survived because Hungary was hit later in the war, however jews from Poland/Ukraine (Galacia) was one of the biggest places for the haskalah in fact how often do you hear much about jews from Galacia except in a history book even though many jews come from that area (They especially came to the US)
