Rav Eli Sadan, who is known as the Father of Mechinot as well as serving as rosh yeshiva of Bnei David, the nation’s first post high school IDF prepatory yeshiva. Rav Sadan, who was a close talmid of Rav Tzvi Yehuda Kook ZT”L, rarely speaks to the media, preferring to focus on his learning and his yeshiva, as well as the numerous kollelim affiliated with Bnei David.
Rav Sadan addressed his talmidim, and that address was released to the media, commenting on what is known as the Moreshet Rabin, the Yitzchak Rabin heritage.
Rav Sadan explains that not only isn’t there a Rabin Heritage, the late prime minister caused more damage than anyone else in the history of the State of Israel. The rav explains that the religious ritual if you will; associated with Rabin serves as the axe with which the political left-wing attacks the yishuvim and the settlement movement.
“Rabin placed himself in peril to help establish the state, and he had a wife and children at home as do most of us. He nevertheless busied himself with the concerns of the tzibur and the state. No one can minimize his merits, and I am certain that in Shomayim, he receives his credit for these deeds”.
That said, the rav continued explaining, “Rabin as a political leader is a prototype of the Mappainik”, describing Rabin as arrogant, one who believed the state is his, and he made every mistake possible. This fact nevertheless did not bother historians who continue to sing his praise and they place him on a high pedestal.
The rav reminds talmidim it was Rabin who gave his troops the order to open fire at the Altalena, which itself was a tragedy of colossal proportion. He added that Rabin took credit for the victory in the June 1967 Six Day War, but in reality, in his post as IDF chief of staff during the war, he collapsed on the day the war broke out, suffering a breakdown. He was hospitalized in a psychiatric facility and the war was run by Ezer Weizman.
The rosh yeshiva did not spare the criticism regarding the Oslo Agreement, which was spearheaded by Rabin, which claimed a high price, hundreds and hundreds of Jewish lives, those who were murdered. Thousands were injured and the damage to bereaved families is simply irreparable. The political pit that the state has sunk into from the perspective of the international community, a military perspective vis-à-vis Hamas and Hizbullah all began with Oslo; and this is the single most serious crime that a government of Israel has ever committed.
Most embarrassing is that the Oslo Agreement was done behind his back, supporting the fact that he was a flaccid leader, incapable, not serious. It was done right under his nose, but nothing was done. When it became apparent, instead of ousting Shimon Peres who undermined him, to pound on the table and stop the process, he went along with it, believing it would pay off.
Concluding, the rav blamed the rabbonim of Yigal Amir, the convicted assassin of the prime minister. According to R’ Sadan, they were part of the process that led to his actions, to his crime. He suggests one probes very well where the man learned, in what high school and which hesder yeshiva, and just where he was learning during his time in university. He points out there is a connection between these locations, where they learn Gemara and Halacha but they don’t learn Emunah nor do they study the problems of this generation and the hour.
He does not mention the rabbonim by name, stating they are well known, talmidei chachamim, which he explains he cannot speak of them by name.

Please guys, Eli Sadan is not a Rosh Yeshiva he is a Rosh Mechina, massive massive difference!!!
Thoughtful, accurate, and balanced. How come the rabbis who are the most reasonable are the ones who never speak to the media?
“The rav reminds talmidim it was Rabin who gave his troops the order to open fire at the Altalena…”
I always felt it was the height of hypocrisy when, after Rabin’s assassination, the Israeli leftists smeared the right wing with (among others) the charge that how could a Jew kill another Jew?!? Apparently they chose to forget the Jews killed on the Altalena by Rabin’s orders, EVEN after they had abandoned the ship and were in the water trying to make it to shore, and Rabin’s men fired on them.
Finally a Rosh Mesifta talks the talk and walks the walk.
He had better be careful. In Israel you can get arrested for speaking the truth. The biggest joke is that israel calls itself a democracy.
