A rumor circulated earlier in the week that former president Moshe Katsav took his own life. The rumor made its way to forums and other electronic media, leading many to believe it was a credible rumor, which Baruch Hashem remained nothing more than a rumor.
Katsav, who last week was denied a final appear before the nation’s highest court, is left with preparing himself to enter prison to serve a seven-year term for his violent crimes. Katsav released a statement today, Wednesday, November 16, 2011, stating “I did not kill myself”, but admits he is distraught over the realization that is less than four weeks; the man who occupied Israel’s presidential residence will now be occupying a jail cell.
“I curse the day I was elected president of the State of Israel,” he added in his statements to the media from his Kiryat Malachi home, insisting that he is innocent and the court erred. He added that he promised his family to continue fighting and to remain strong. He assured the public that one day the truth will surface, perhaps after his death, but it will surface.
