Emergency responders are examining a small device found in front of 303 Forest Road in the Village of Kiryas Joel late Tuesday afternoon. Village Public Safety and Fire Department personnel are on the scene along with State Police. The device appears to be firecrackers taped together, said Public Service Director Moses Witriol.

When discovered, smoke was emanating from the box that was wrapped in duct tape with wires sticking out.

Witriol said the scene is secure and everything is under control. A bomb squad was brought in to further examine the device.
