Maimonides Medical Center Opens Its New Green Wing


IMG_8190.jpg[Click HERE for a complete photo album] Last evening, Maimonides Medical Center celebrated the opening of its new “green” medical pavilion. The new “green” pavilion is located at Tenth Avenue between 48th and 49th streets in Brooklyn. Amongst those who attended the ribbon-cutting-ceremony were Mayor Bloomberg, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, NYC Councilman Simcha Felder, NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind, NYS Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, NYPD Police Chief Fox (and many other NYPD officials), Israel’s Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar, Hatzolah Coordinators from many neighborhoods, representing the NY State Police – Rabbi Bernard Freilich, Coordinators of Shomrim, representatives from Misaskim, Chesed Shel Emmes, and many community Askonim.

The $118 million construction project, started in 2004, will add eight floors, or 92,600 square feet, to the hospital. According to hospital officials, the new space includes nine operating rooms. The pavilion will augment the existing emergency department, neonatal intensive care unit, and other services.
