Israel Approves Extradition Of Yitzchak Shochet

The Jerusalem District Court today, Thursday, November 10, 2011, approved the extradition of Yitzchak Shochet to the United States, where he is wanted for an attack that occurred in 2008, alleged to have beaten two Afro Americans in Brooklyn. According to the extradition petition, he fled to Canada shortly after the alleged incident and from there he came to Israel, where he has been since.

The documentation states the attack was unprovoked, and it is being viewed as a hate crime. Authorities in New York allege that the suspect used a bat to beat the victims in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn, injuring one of the victims seriously.

It is being called a hate crime since the alleged assault was unprovoked and there was no connection between the suspect and the victims prior to the incident.
