With the threat of expulsion hanging over a number of communities in Yehuda and Shomron, right-wing protestors have been staging protests outside the Haifa home of Minister of Science Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz, calling on him to pull is Bayit HaYehudi party out of the government coalition. Over 100 activists joined by dozens of community residents have been camped outside the minister’s house since Shabbos ended. The protestors are demanding that Hershkowitz send a clear message to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, that if he expels more Jews from their homes, the party will have to break from the coalition.
In addition to serving as a cabinet minister, Hershkowitz is the rabbi of Haifa’s Achuza neighborhood.
Last week, Haifa City Hall decided to remove a protest tent near the minister’s home that existed a week earlier, set up by residents of Givat Assaf, one of the communities scheduled for destruction.
The protestors expressed anger against the right-wing members of the coalition, who are permitting the prime minister to move ahead with his destructive agenda, asking them to please learn from history and act this time before it is too let.
