Israel Test Fires Ballistic Missile

IDF officials confirm the IDF test fired a ballistic missile from the Palmachim Base. The missile fired is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

Many central region residents on Wednesday morning, 5 Cheshvan, were taken by surprise as the saw the white smoke making its path high into the sky.

Defense Ministry officials report the launch was planned for quite some time and they are pleased to add the launch was successful. Officials would not state which missile was fired however.

Many residents feel the launch is connected to recent reports that the prime minister is seeking to win over his cabinet to support a military attack against Iran, but there is no comment from official sources. Media reports in Israel state Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman are working to obtain a cabinet majority in favor of a military strike against Iran.

While Defense Ministry officials remain silent, foreign media reports state the ballistic missile fired has a range of 4,500km (2,700 miles) to 7,000km (4,200 miles).

  1. So what’s the hiddush?

Israel has already launched satellites into orbit. As Americans quickly figured out after the first “sputnik” (which I remember), if someone can put a satellite in earth orbit, they can bring it down anywhere. From that point, the country that launced the satellite can consider any place on the earth as “within range”.
