Powerful assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has had enough of Occupy Wall Streeters going to the bathroom on the streets – and drumming all day.
Silver, Rep. Jerald Nadler (D-Manhattan) and local lawmakers who represent lower Manhattan demanded Tuesday that Mayor Bloomberg crack down on quality-of-life infractions by those encamped at Zuccotti Park.
While expressing sympathy for Occupy Wall Street protesters and their right to protest, the elected officials wrote to Bloomberg insisting he solve growing concerns.
“Some of the protesters, and others who have opportunistically joined the crowd for unrelated reasons, have created serious qualify-of-life concerns for residents of the immediate area,” the letter states.
The group complained about public urination, nonstop drumming – and erected barricades that make it difficult for local residents to get around.
Silver, at the Capitol in Albany, told reporters that exercising one’s First Amendment rights “should not include defecating or urinating on sidewalks.
“What we want is a recognition that other people have a constitutional right to enjoy their home, that businesses have a right to do business unimpeded by people who are exercising their First Amendment rights,” he said.
Silver shouldn’t expect Bloomberg to snap into action.
Bloomberg spokesman Marc La Vorgna said simply , “We have been working closely with the community to address the serious quality-of-life issues caused by the Occupy Wall Street protesters and will continue to do so.”
Protesters insist their area is already clean and suspect the lawmakers are looking for an easy way to give them the boot.

These filthy squatters are the ideological brothers of these Manhattan liberals. They should enjoy their company.
Everyone is tiptoeing around these filthy people. They are doing lots of things that are against the law. Public urination is against the law. Why aren’t they being treated like other people that do something against the law. Bloomberg thinks they are within their rights to do all these horrible things. Guliani said he would never have let them sleep in the park. Go home at night. Where’s Bloombergs brains?
