Prominent Israeli attorney Yaakov Weinrot was acquitted by the Tel Aviv District Court on Monday, 3 Cheshvan, on tax bribery and money laundering charges. Seated at his side was Shuki Vita, a former senior official in the Israel Tax Authority, who was also acquitted.
While Weinrot’s acquittal was absolute, Vita was found guilty of less serious charges. Weinrot realized his entire career was at stake, and as such, he was represented by leading legal figures in the country, including former Justice Minister Prof. David Libai.
Weinrot, a frum Jew, during past months visited a number of Gedolei HaDor Shlita seeking a bracha. Weinrot is close to HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, who told him that the outcome would be a good one, as was the case.

All in a day’s work. Tax cheating and money laundering are not really crimes.
