in the end you should have touched base with your Rabbi, and followed his guidance.
He would have given you 1 of the 3 options that exist, but the one that is the right one for you:-
1) Stay in Shul & recite Jizkor.
2) Stay in Shul & don’t recite Jizkor.
3) Leave the Shul & don’t recite Jizkor.
