In response to the Grad rockets fired into southern Israelis municipalities, including Ashdod; schools in most areas have been canceled in line with recommendations from IDF Homefront Command officials. This is because most schools lack safe rooms or proper fortification to protect students from rocket fire.
A rosh yeshiva of a Sephardi yeshiva ketana on motzei Shabbos asked HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita what to do, explaining his school is located in Ashdod. According to a Chadrei Chareidim report, the Rav told him “start the zman as planned. The zchus of learning Torah will protect you. Nothing will happen”.
As of now, the Grodna Yeshiva, located in Ashdod will not open its doors today, Sunday, 2 Cheshvan as planned. Those wishing additional information during the day may phone 050-418-1273.
The three yeshivos affiliated with the Gur Chassidus in Ashdod are also remaining closed. The talmidim were sent home.
The Belz-affiliated Dover Sholom Yeshiva will not open its doors. Talmidim spent Shabbos in Yerushalayim and they have been instructed not to return to yeshiva.
