Signatories include HaGaon HaRav Elyashiv Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Shteinman Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Wosner Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Kanievsky Shlita and the Belzer Rebbe Shlita.
The Rabbonim Shlita call for dedicating time in our daily schedules for learning mussar and seforim that “strengthen midos and Yiras Shomayim. The letter is addressed specifically to directors, roshei yeshiva and kollelim, towards seeing the implementation of the request from Gedolei HaDor Shlita.

Other than the rocket attack over the weekend, what “tragedies” have recently befallen am yisroel. And by historical standards, even the rocket attack doesn’t really stand out as a major tragedy in comparison with much worse terrorist attacks that sadly have become the norm.
Just a thought: The fact the rocket attack has caused tens of yeshivos to close, causing hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people to stop learning b’tzibur is perhaps itself tragic; removing the one guarenteed protection we have in war. A second thought: The fact even one life was lost (and many more injured is perhaps itself tragic. A third thought: Perhaps the einei ha’aidah see things we don’t see. Perhaps they see in the Shalit deal, in the threats from Hamas and Saudi Arabia, in the rapid downward spiral in our nation’s adherance to hilchos tzniyus, in the horendous lack of emunas chachomim a tremendous sakanah for klal Yisroel. Just a thought.
The call to strengthen midos and yiras Shomayim” clearly state as (one of) the reasons the tragedies of this past summer “at the hands of fellow Yidden.”
