The Israel Electric Company announced there will be another rate increase, 4.7%. It appears the resumption in operation of the Egypt-Israel gas line will not do anything to avoid the planned rate increase. Gas flow resumed after over a three-month interruption, albeit the rate of flow is far less than it should be. Officials explain that gradually the quantity will be increased to meet contractual volume.
The interruptions in gas have been many due to repeated sabotage to the line in Sinai.
This latest increase follows a 10% increase during the summer, attributed to the halt of the gas line from Egypt. IEC officials explain the increase is the result of an increase in the price of diesel fuel.
