Jerusalem police on Monday afternoon, 26 Tishrei, raised its operational alert level in response to credible intelligence information of a planned stabbing attack. The information indicates the terrorist is most likely to try striking in a chareidi area, including Kiryat Belz, Romeima or the northern capital.
Hundreds of police are involved in the search for the lone terrorist, on his way to strike out in the capital. A police helicopter is circling overhead, assisting in the manhunt as well.
Police have already searched the main Gur Beis Medrash and the Belz Shul. The suspect, believed to be in his 20s, is Hamad Jamal, believed to be in the Romeima area at this time, near Belz. Residents are urged to exhibit vigilance and report anyone suspicious to police without hesitation.
UPDATE 17:05 IL: Jerusalem police announced moments ago that the terror alert that was taking place in the capital during the last hours has been canceled. There is no information regarding the sought after terrorist, if he was apprehended or not.
