Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sent his bureau chief to Bnei Brak, to hand deliver a note to the Gadol HaDor, Maran HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, a note expressing his sorrow over the petirasa of the rebitzen, Batsheva Kanievsky ob”m during chol hamoed.
Natan Eshel arrived during the morning hours of Hoshanah Rabba, escorted by MK Moshe Gafne. Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office turned to Gafne seeking to inquire as to how the prime minister can express his condolences to the Rav.
Gafne told Eshel that after the petira of Maran Rav Shach Zatzal, a letter was sent from the prime minister to the mourners, suggesting the same approach in this case. Gafne added that a letter should not be sent to Maran HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita, since he is yet unaware of the petirasa of the rebitzen, his daughter.
During the last days of Yomtov, a number of prominent gedolim visited the Kanievsky home, including HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Halevy Wosner Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, Av Beis Din HaGaon HaRav Nissim Karelitz Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita.

Petirah is a feminine verb and agrees with neshomah. Petirasah means her petirah and would not fit in either of the above contexts.
