Israel�s Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi, Yona Metzger, has congratulated Rabbi Avichai Ronsky of the Jewish community of Itamar in Samaria for being named the next Chief Rabbi of the IDF, a position that holds the rank of Brigadier General.Rabbi Ronsky heads the yeshiva (torah seminary) in Itamar and opposed the call to refuse orders during last summer�s withdrawal from Gaza and northern Samaria, which uprooted and destroyed 25 Jewish communities, forcing 10,000 Jews from their homes.
