Sukka Fires Reported in Ashdod & Bnei Brak


A number of sukka fires were report in Israel over Shabbos, the daily HaMevaser reports. Shortly after Shabbos began, a fire was reported in a sukka on Zechariah Street in Bnei Brak. It appears candles left unattended caused the blaze that quickly spread to a number of Sukkos. An infant was transported to an area hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Baruch Hashem the child was reported in light condition.

Another blaze was reported on Rabbi Akiva Street in Bnei Brak. No injuries were reported.

In Ashdod, sukka fires were reported in the Rova Hey area. There were no reports of injuries.

In all cases, the fire department responded and extinguished the blazes.

  1. I honestly don’t get it. Why don’t people use common sense?! It is dangerous to light candles in a succah, especially if you’re going to leave it unattended. Its just something I can’t understand!
