Realizing they hit a dead end, representatives of the striking residents in the nation’s government hospitals on Monday, 12 Tishrei, refused to comply with a National Labor Court suggestion to resume talks with treasury officials, indicating such an act was pointless at this juncture.
As such, the National Labor Court on Tuesday, 13 Tishrei, is expected to rule on a request from government officials to order the striking doctors back to work.
An estimated 300 doctors have walked off the job. If the court does not issue a back-to-work order, the total number of striking residents may approach 800, a reality that would deliver a devastating blow to the government hospital healthcare system.
